Geoffrey Schier has a contemporary design aesthetic. His passion in art design, coupled with an enthusiasm for environmental sustainability led him to building and landscape design.

Work

Geoffrey is interested in design projects for building, residential or parkland. Someday he would like to be involved in designing a haven, utilising and emphasising nature.

Personal

Geoffrey is a building design student at Canberra Institute of Technology. He is married with three little monkeys (kids).

Design Inspiration

I am inspired by the connection people have with their surroundings.

In designing a building, we have the opportunity to create an experience for the user, to connect them with a feeling, to inspire and enrich peoples quality of life.

Creating an intimate, individual nook or a conducive shared space, developing an environment utilising natural light and relationships with nature, using materials that generate a feeling or a memory. This is a strong inspiration for being a designer.

Designers have an wonderful obligation. To contribute to life now and for the future.

Philosophy

With one eye firmly on the past and one eye on the future, our design aesthetic has mixture of influences.

With an element of provincial French and New York design architecture and building from 1920-60s and landscape design from Japan. Garden design from French influences from Monet and garden art from impressionists and abstract modernism.

Treelight Design is interested in taking these influences and coupling this with environmental sustainable materials. The kinsetic nature of materials is principle to our design.

Whether it is building and landscape design or providing specialist advice, we believe in using materials which are environmentally friendly. Treelight Design promotes planting trees to offset the carbon produced throughout the building process (construction, life and disposal).
